What is AMD?

AMD stands for age related macular degeneration. It is a progressive eye disease that affects the part of the retina called the macula. AMD is the leading cause of legal blindness in men and women over the age of 50. The central vision is affected and a black spot may develop in the center of one's vision making it difficult to read or recognize faces.
